Temporary Outdoor Patio

Learn about the application process and requirements for setting up temporary outdoor patios in Norfolk County.

Requests for temporary patio permits must be submitted on the prescribed application form at least 8 weeks in advance to allow for processing timelines. The application will allow temporary patios to operate on private and public property from May 1 to October 31. 

Requirements for Temporary Outdoor Patios

  1. Valid Business Licence issued by Norfolk County
  2. A completed Temporary Patio Application Form
  3. Diagram of the proposed location and layout of the patio (including dimensions). Please ensure all patio drawings are accurate and details of the nature of fencing are included. 
  4. A completed Site Plan Waiver Request Form (PDF)
  5. A fee of $239.00. Please note: seasonal land rental rates may apply as outlined in the County’s User Fee By-law
  6. Certificate of Insurance with proof of at least $2 million (per occurrence), Commercial General Liability, Cross Liability, and an endorsement certifying that The Corporation of Norfolk County is added as additional insured on the policy with 30 days written notice of cancellation.
  7. Proof of a liquor license (if relevant)
