Norfolk County Water operates 24/7 and is funded by rates and user fees. Your utility bill payments support safe drinking water, wastewater treatment services, and updates to aging infrastructure.

Standby charges

When a premise is unoccupied for an extended period, a customer should have the County shut off the water service. The standard service charge covers fixed costs unrelated to a consumption volume, which is applied even when the water is shut off.

Water Connection Permits

Watermain Taps (19 mm and 25 mm) 

Please note the following updates to water, sanitary and storm service installation commencing January 1, 2025:

  • The minimum requirements for new service sizing/material for water will now be 25mm (1”) nominal size PEX materiel, and sanitary will be 100mm (4“) SDR 28 PVC.
  • For existing metallic water services, a minimum of 19mm (3/4”) – Soft-copper Type K may be used.
  • The minimum standard residential water meter size will continue to be 19 mm (3/4") unless otherwise directed by Norfolk County’s Building Department.
