County to celebrate Pride Month with flag raising

Mayor Amy Martin and members of Norfolk County Council will raise the Pride Flag at the County Administration Building at 50 Colborne Street South in Simcoe on Wednesday, May 31 at 9 a.m.

Continuing with a tradition that began in 2020, the newest version of the flag will fly throughout June in support of the LGBTQ+ community. Developed in 2021 by columnist and media personality Valentino Vecchietti, the Intersex-Inclusive Pride flag includes circles representing Intersex equality rights.

“Raising the Pride Flag is one way Norfolk County shows we are an inclusive community that welcomes all,” said Mayor Martin. “It’s so important to members of the LGBTQ+ community to know we stand alongside them and that they are valued members of Norfolk County.”

Members of the community and media partners are invited to attend, celebrate, and take photographs during this time.
