Norfolk County announces 2024 Community Grants Program recipients

 

Norfolk is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2024 Community Grants Program. The recipients were chosen by a Selection Committee, which included members of the Council Advisory Committees.

Many applications were received, each offering unique solutions to various challenges faced by County residents, such as child nutrition support, cancer care services, empowerment programs, environmental conservation efforts, cultural diversity celebrations, and more.

The chosen applicants demonstrated a commitment to Norfolk’s Strategic Priorities: empowering, building, connecting, serving, and sustaining Norfolk County while also addressing a diverse range of themes valued by the community.

Norfolk County Council endorsed the following recipients, providing $24,000 in grant funding to be shared amongst the group:

  1. Haldimand-Norfolk Reach (Child Nutrition Network) – Build and sustain local student nutrition programs.
  2. South Coast Community Caring for Cancer – Parking passes for Hamilton Health Sciences parking lots to be added to Cancer Care Bags to women, men and children within the community.
  3. G.I.R.L.S Power Camp – Growth Independence Respect Leadership Self Esteem Power Camp is a unique 3-day program for girls in grade 8.
  4. Long Point Biosphere Reserve Foundation – Establish an annual weekend festival in Norfolk County called “Conservation Crawl”.
  5. The Simcoe Heritage Friendship Festival – Expand entertainment at the festivals “KidsZone” and Community Showcase Stage.
  6. PRIDE Haldimand Norfolk – Establish the first PRIDE DAY event in Norfolk County.
  7. St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church – “Front Door Ministry” provides food, water and resources to residents in need.
