Norfolk County Council approves 2025 Rate Budget

Norfolk County Council has reviewed and approved the 2025 Rate Budget.

The Budget Committee heard presentations from the Environmental and Infrastructure Services and Corporate Services teams before approving the rate budget as proposed by staff.

The 2025 Rate Budget incorporated the Rate Capital Budget and forecast for 2025, seeing approval of the $8,659,000 2025 budget and approval in principle of the $413,150,000 forecast for 2026-2034. The net rate requirement is $32,792,600, representing a 10.7 per cent increase over 2024. This translates to a weekly increase of $3.25, or 10.6 per cent, on the average residential bill.

The Rate Budget is an important strategic document that ensures clean, safe and reliable potable water is available to County residents. The new water and wastewater user rates will take effect on January 1, 2025.

Mayor Amy Martin

“The recent $16.5 million in Provincial funding that Norfolk received highlights our dedication to securing grants from upper levels of government. This funding will directly impact the 2025 budget, reducing the combined water and wastewater rate increase for the average residential property from 14 per cent to 10.6 per cent. Our budget makes significant strides in addressing Norfolk’s critical infrastructure needs and overdue capital upgrades. It reflects our commitment to investing in our water and wastewater systems to ensure their reliability for years to come. Norfolk will continue to actively seek grant funding to protect our ratepayers.”
