Norfolk County invites community to Open House for updated Community Improvement Plan

Norfolk County is holding an in-person Open House event to gather community feedback on the draft update to its Community Improvement Plan (CIP). This event provides an opportunity for residents to review the draft CIP document, ask questions, and share their thoughts on the proposed updates.

A Community Improvement Plan (CIP) creates financial incentives such as grants, loans, or rebates for private landowners or organizations undertaking improvement projects. These projects can include construction, converting old buildings to new uses, maintenance and repair, or rehabilitation of buildings or land. The current CIP was adopted in 2015.

Key updates in the draft CIP

  • New incentives for environmental efficiency, agricultural and on-farm diversified uses, and housing, including rental and affordable housing
  • Updated incentives for landscaping and signage, building facades, brownfield redevelopment, and support for increased property taxes resulting from improvements
  • Enhanced flexibility in eligibility requirements
  • The County’s entire municipal boundary would be within the CIP area
  • Updates to procedures and tools for implementing and monitoring the CIP
