Norfolk County snow removal operations beginning Tuesday
Snow removal operations to clear large piles of snow from roadways and parking lots across Norfolk County will begin on Tuesday, February 25.
Residents can expect to see heavy equipment operating throughout Norfolk during this time. Operators will start removal activities at 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, with trucks beginning to load snow at 3:00 a.m. Parking lots and cul-de-sacs will be cleared during day shifts. During snow clearing operations, residents may experience noise and disruptive activity; however, this work is essential for ensuring safe and clear roadways.
Snow removal schedule
- Downtown cores: Snow will be removed from the roadside in downtown areas on Tuesday and Wednesday morning
- Port Dover and Waterford: Operations will begin in Port Dover on Tuesday and move to Waterford on Wednesday
- Delhi and Simcoe: Simcoe will undergo a two-day snow removal operation starting on Tuesday
- Port Rowan: Operations are expected to be completed by Tuesday morning
Important reminders for residents
- Keep vehicles off roadways: Please ensure that vehicles are not parked on streets during the scheduled operations.
- Avoid placing garbage on snowbanks: Garbage should be kept off snowbanks to prevent interference with snow removal equipment.
- Sidewalk clearing: Norfolk County’s Snow and Ice Removal By-Law requires property owners or occupants to clear sidewalks beside their property of both snow and ice by noon following a snow event. Failing to clear sidewalks can result in a charge under the By-Law.
