Norfolk prepared for a safe and memorable Friday the 13th in Port Dover

As Norfolk County is gearing up for the highly anticipated Friday the 13th event in Port Dover this Friday, staff are prioritizing safety to ensure residents and visitors have a memorable experience.

The event attracts motorcycle riders and enthusiasts to Port Dover every Friday the 13th. With warm weather in the forecast this Friday, a large crowd is expected.

Safety first

Norfolk is committed to the safety and well-being of all participants and works closely with Norfolk County OPP to ensure smooth traffic to and within Port Dover during the event. Attendees are encouraged to follow all safety guidelines and respect local regulations.

Street closures

Norfolk County By-Law 2024-73 permits temporary street closures for public safety, except for emergency and service vehicles.

From 12 p.m. on Thursday the 12th until 4 a.m. on Saturday the 14th:

  • Main Street from Nelson Street to Walker Street
  • Chapman Street West from Main Street to St. Andrew Street
  • Chapman Street East from Main Street to St. Andrew Street
  • Market Street West from St. George Street to Main Street

From 3 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on Friday the 13th:

  • Nelson Street East, from St. Patrick Street to Highway 24
  • Greenock Street West, from St. George Street to Richardson Drive
  • Richardson Drive, from Nelson Street West to Greenock Street
  • Main Street from Clifford Street to Nelson Street

Motorcycle parking

Motorcycle parking is only permitted in certain areas on designated streets. With many visitors, vendors, and bikes in town during the event, parking in permitted areas ensures fire, paramedic, and police teams have fast and direct access to residential and business areas in an emergency. Shuttle bus

The Port Dover Kinsmen will provide shuttle buses during the event. Pick-up and drop-off points are at the Port Dover Kinsmen Hall and Chapman Street, midway between Main Street and St. Andrew Street. Check the event map for pick-up locations.

Camping

The Port Dover Kinsmen and Port Dover Lions Club provide camping during the event. Check the event map for locations.

The dog park at Port Dover Kin Park will be closed on the morning of Wednesday, September 11, to accommodate camping. It will reopen on Sunday, September 15.
