Registration open for next Household Hazardous Waste Event

Norfolk County’s next Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Event will take place in Simcoe at 591 Norfolk St. South on Saturday, September 17 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Registration is mandatory – to reserve a time, visit Norfolk County’s HHW site and a follow the information on the pop up.
Please keep in mind that hazardous waste materials are harmful to humans, animals, and the environment, and should be disposed of properly.
Accepted items include:
• Aerosol cans
• Batteries (all types)
• Household cleaners and disinfectants
• Fluorescent tubes and bulbs
• Propane tanks (20lb) and cylinders
• Gasoline, oil, and oil filters
• Pharmaceuticals, syringes
• Paints, varnishes, and stains
• Pesticides and insecticides
• Pool chemicals
Items NOT accepted include any hazardous material in containers larger than 20L (5 gallons), agricultural/commercial/industrial waste, PCBs, explosives or radioactive waste.
Also, appointment times are 30 minutes in length – and there is more than one vehicle scheduled for that timeslot. Please be patient as the opportunity to unload will be any time during that 30-minute period.
Residents are reminded that Norfolk County no longer collects electronic waste at HHW Events. Three area businesses do accept e-waste,and they’re listed on Norfolk County’s retailer take-back site.
Can’t make it to the Simcoe? There is one more HHW depot this year – Oct. 8th, in Langton, at 1630 County Rd. 45 from 9 a.m.-noon. Registration begins 30 days in advance. For more information please visit Norfolk’s HHW page or contact ServiceNorfolk at 519-426-5870 or 226-NORFOLK ext. 0.
