Ride Norfolk announces launch of new transit app

Effective today, Ride Norfolk has launched Phase 1 of its new booking app

As part of a one-year technology pilot partnership with Blaise Transit, all stops on the Brantford line are now bookable on the existing fixed schedule.  Riders are encouraged to download the Blaise Transit app. Trips can also be called in or booked online.

Booking a ride on the Brantford line will allow riders to:

  • Guarantee their seat
  • Track the bus in real-time on their mobile device
  • Receive ‘push notifications’ on their mobile device in the event there is a service delay or disruption
  • Pay for their ride digitally through the Blaise Transit app

When Phase 2 launches in July, Ride Norfolk’s local routes will become an “on demand” service where riders can book on a first come, first served basis between 7:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Other changes in July include:

  • Users can book a ride stop-to-stop during all service hours (some restrictions will apply)
  • Users can pay for their rides digitally for all routes
  • More stops added throughout Simcoe

By moving away from a fixed schedule locally, riders will benefit from a more direct service, decreasing travel time on-board, and improving access to areas of Norfolk County.

Riders are encouraged to watch the Ride Norfolk promotional video to learn how to book their ride.

Ride Norfolk receives government funding

Recently, the Ontario government awarded Ride Norfolk funding through the Gas Tax Program. The funding can be used to provide extended hours, purchase more transit vehicles, add routes, and improve accessibility/upgrade infrastructure.

“We’re thrilled to continue being a recipient of the Ontario Gas Tax Program.,” said Blaire Sylvester, Norfolk County’s Public Transportation and Business Development Coordinator. “We are making exciting improvements to Ride Norfolk in 2023 and this funding will certainly help.”
