Section of Waterford trails remain closed

Demolition of Waterford’s decommissioned agricultural silos located at Nichol Street West and McCool Street is ongoing and expected to be completed by the end of February.

The following sections of the Waterford Heritage Trail located near the silo area remain closed:

  • Upper trail from the south gate on Black Bridge to the section of trail where the upper and lower trails connect
  • Pedestrian stairs that connect the upper trail and lower trail

Fencing and signage are in place directing trail users travelling north or south to the lower trail to detour/bypass the closed section. Black Bridge remains open, with signage at the upper trail access at Mechanic Street directing southbound trail users to detour to the lower trail.

Residents and trail users are urged to respect the barriers and signage.

Norfolk’s trails and pathways are not maintained during winter months, and surfaces may have a build-up of ice that could pose a risk to walk or ride on.
