Spring watermain flushing begins next week

Norfolk staff will soon be providing routine spring maintenance to the watermains throughout the County.

During a flush, hydrants are opened and allowed to flow in a controlled manner in one direction. This increased flow scours pipe walls, cleaning the sediment from inside the watermains.

The spring schedule is as follows:

  • Waterford – April 3 to April 21
  • Port Dover – April 3 to May 12
  • Delhi/Courtland – April 17 to May 5
  • Simcoe – April 17 to May 26
  • Port Rowan – May 1 to May 5

Discoloured water is a normal side effect of cleaning watermains. If you notice discoloured water, simply run your faucet until clear.
