Tour Norfolk's water and wastewater treatment plants this summer

Have you ever wondered where your drinking water comes from? Now is your chance to find out.  

Norfolk County’s Environmental and Infrastructure Services Division is inviting all members of the community to see behind the scenes at two Norfolk County treatment plants.  

On Sunday, July 30 residents can enjoy a free tour of the Waterford Water Treatment Plant at 373 Thompson Road West from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Get a behind-the-scenes look at the facility that provides water to the town of Waterford, and a chance to learn about the many processes in place to ensure it’s clean and safe. There will also be County vehicles on site and activities for kids of all ages. 

“Norfolk County’s Environmental and Infrastructure Services team works hard to ensure high-quality drinking water is there when you turn on your tap,” said Mayor Amy Martin. “I’m pleased that staff have put these tours together to open our doors and allow residents to meet the team, check out the facility, and better understand an essential County service we use every day.” 

A second tour will take place at the Simcoe Wastewater Treatment Plant at 16 Oakwood Avenue on Saturday, August 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
