What’s open and closed in Norfolk County this Easter weekend
Norfolk County would like to remind residents of changes to programs, facilities, and services throughout the Easter holiday weekend.
County Administration Buildings
All County administration buildings will be closed on Friday, April 18 (Good Friday) and Monday, April 21 (Easter Monday). Regular hours will resume on Tuesday, April 22 at 8:30 a.m.
Emergency, Essential and Critical Services
Fire and Paramedic Services will continue to operate as usual.
Social Services and Housing
All Social Services and Housing offices will be closed on Friday, April 18 and Monday, April 21, reopening on Tuesday, April 22 at 8:30 a.m. For crisis support, such as emergency accommodation, call the Victim Services Support Line at 1-800-264-6671.
Heritage and Culture
All museums and Norfolk County Archives will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday. Waterford Heritage & Agricultural Museum’s Easter Eggstravaganza will take place at the Waterford Arena Baseball Diamonds on Saturday, April 19, where kids 12 and under can hunt for thousands of chocolate eggs and win exciting prizes. Gates open at 10:30 a.m. with the egg hunt beginning at 11:00 a.m.; admission is $5 per child.
Norfolk County Public Library
All branches of the Norfolk County Public Library will be closed on Friday, April 18, Sunday, April 20, and Monday, April 21. Regular hours resume Tuesday, April 22. Online services remain available at www.ncpl.ca.
Recreation
The Simcoe Recreation Centre, including the Annaleise Carr Aquatic Centre and Simcoe Seniors Centre, the Delhi Friendship Centre, and County Arenas will be closed on Good Friday, April 18 and Easter Monday, April 21.
Ride Norfolk
Ride Norfolk will not be in operation on Friday, April 18 (Good Friday). Regular service resumes Monday, April 21.
ServiceNorfolk
ServiceNorfolk will be closed on Friday, April 18 (Good Friday) and Monday, April 21 (Easter Monday). Regular hours will resume on Tuesday, April 22 at 8:30 a.m.
Residents can submit non-urgent service requests anytime through Service.norfolkcounty.ca or by emailing askus@norfolkcounty.ca. Messages will be reviewed and prioritized once offices reopen.
For urgent issues related to forestry, parks and facilities, public health, roads, water, sewer, waste, or drainage, please call 1-877-298-5888.
By-law concerns during the closure can be directed to the OPP non-emergency line at 1-888-310-1122.
Transfer Stations
Both Simcoe and South Walsingham Transfer Stations will be closed on Friday, April 18, and open on Saturday, April 19 during regular hours. Transfer Stations are also open on Easter Monday, April 21, during regular hours.
Waste Collection
There will be no garbage and recycling collection on Friday, April 18. Friday’s collection will take place on Saturday, April 19. The remainder of the week is unaffected. The week of Easter Monday (April 21-25), waste collection is unaffected. Residents are encouraged to use the Recycle Coach app for instant access to their area’s collection schedule, personalized reminders, and more. The app is available on the iTunes Store and the Google Play Store.
