Flags at all 11 Norfolk County Fire Stations have been lowered to half-mast to honour the memory of Zachery Muise.
Known as “Zak” to friends and family, Muise was a 25-year-old Waterford native and firefighter in British Columbia. He was killed in the line of duty battling the Donnie Creek wildfire July 28.
A celebration of life will take place at The Greens at Renton Golf Course on August 20 at 2 p.m. Norfolk County Fire Chief Gord Stilwell, several County staff and members of the Norfolk County Fire Department will be in attendance.
“We are all saddened by the loss of a fellow brother,” said Chief Stilwell. “Our hearts go out to all of Zak’s family and friends. This is a tragic loss for our community.”
“All of us in Norfolk County are deeply saddened by the passing of Zachery,” said Mayor Amy Martin. “We respect his bravery and willingness to protect others. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this difficult time.”
