Norfolk County is seeking community feedback on a new recreation master plan that will guide recreation initiatives in the community.
The Master Recreation Plan, themed “Recreation without Borders”, will develop a roadmap to improve the quality of life for all residents by providing opportunities for leisure, growth, and connection.
Goals of the Master Recreation Plan include:
- Enhanced Quality of Life – Enhance and sustain the quality of life of Norfolk residents through recreational initiatives.
- Inclusivity – Ensure inclusivity and diversity by actively listening to, and interpreting, the perspectives of all represented areas within Norfolk.
- Sustainability – Develop an actionable, economically feasible, and sustainable plan.
- Comprehensive Community Engagement – Provide the community with an implementation strategy and comprehensive plan for the future, comprising both short-term and long-term goals that are sustainable, efficient, and responsive to its needs.
- Employment – Optimize staffing services and refine organizational structures to support the plan’s implementation
Public engagement opportunities
Norfolk County invites all residents to participate in shaping the Plan, with a wide range of options to provide input until Monday, September 23, 2024.
Survey
Complete a survey online at EngageNorfolk.ca or on paper at the ServiceNorfolk Customer Service Desk in Delhi or Simcoe, any Norfolk County Public Library branch, or the Simcoe Recreation Centre.
In addition to the survey, residents can visit EngageNorfolk.ca to answer three questions:
- What does recreation mean to you?
- What keeps you living in Norfolk?
- What is your favorite recreation memory growing up?
Tailgate drop-in sessions
Participate in one of four in-person “Tailgate” style drop-in public sessions offered at locations across Norfolk. Come out, chat with staff, and take advantage of a discount offered to participants by the local community partners hosting the sessions. To participate in a Tailgate, drop in during the session times below.
- Friday, August 23, 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Riversyde 83, 83 Sydenham Street, Simcoe, ON
- Saturday, August 24, 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Sam’s Place, 4665 Highway 24, Scotland, ON
- Saturday, August 24, 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Wholesome Pickins, 500 Church Street East, Delhi, ON
