Norfolk County is announcing the launch of the 2023 Norfolk Community Development Awards. The new program incorporates and evolves the previous Heritage Dogwood, Development Site Plan and Economic Development Awards with new categories and a new format.
Residents are invited to nominate a Norfolk County champion who is making a difference in environmental sustainability, agriculture, or economic excellence. Or, recognize a youth or lifetime leader that has done something great that will help further enhance a healthy, livable community.
“The Community Development Awards are a fun and exciting way to highlight those outstanding in their field,” said Mayor Amy Martin. “Residents should consider nominating a qualified candidate for an award – or joining a selection committee in a category they’re passionate about.”
Online nominations for the awards and volunteer selection committee will be open from February 23 to March 19 via Norfolk County’s website. Award categories encompass a wide range of business and community areas, including Outstanding Community Design, Thriving New Business, and Heritage Property Stewardship.
“This is an exciting opportunity to recognize and celebrate success within our community as there are so many great initiatives and champions in Norfolk,” said Brandon Sloan, General Manager, Community Development.
The awards will be presented in early June with a further announcement and publication of award recipients.
The full listing of new award categories and criteria is on the Community Development Awards website at norfolkcounty.ca/CDawards, and nomination forms for award submission and selection committee membership will be available starting on February 23, 2023.
