The Norfolk County Fire Department is once again recruiting local volunteer firefighters.

Stations requiring new team members include Fairground, Langton, Port Rowan, Simcoe, Vittoria, and Waterford. No previous experience is required, and all training and certification is free of charge.

Recruits will participate in a comprehensive training program to become fully certified firefighters. The program begins with involvement in operational activities within the first three months. Following this initial phase, recruits will attend intensive weekend training sessions focused on specialized skills and engage in weekly training once they have mastered the basics. The training curriculum encompasses various core components, including emergency patient care, emergency driving, fire chemistry, ground ladder operations, and structural search and rescue.

Open houses are scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13 at the Simcoe Fire Station, and Thursday, August 15 at the Langton Fire Station.

All applicants must be available for testing on Saturday, September 7.

The deadline to apply is Monday, August 26. For more information, visit NorfolkCountyFire.ca.
