Flags at the County Administration Building in Simcoe have been lowered to half-mast for three days, beginning September 23 to honour the life of former Councillor for Ward 1, Betty Chanyi, who passed away this past weekend.
Former Councillor Chanyi dedicated many years to serving Norfolk County in various capacities. She was an esteemed elementary school educator, a committed community volunteer, and a respected member of Norfolk Council, representing Ward 1 from 2010 to 2014.
A visitation for Mrs. Chanyi will be held at the Jeffrey W. Glendinning Funeral Home, located at 36 Front Rd., Port Rowan, on Friday, September 27 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will take place in the Clark Chapel of the funeral home on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.
Norfolk extends sincere condolences to her family, friends, and everyone who knew her. Betty’s legacy of dedication and service will be remembered and cherished by the entire community.
