Norfolk County has hired Genevieve Scharback to be its new County Clerk.

Scharback – who replaces the outgoing Teresa Olsen – will officially begin her new role on April 17. She brings an expansive resume, which includes roles as Chief Administrative Officer, Director of Administration, Manager of Corporate Services, Clerk, and Deputy Regional Clerk at the Regional Municipality of Niagara. Scharback holds a Graduate Diploma in Public Administration from Western University and is a Certified Municipal Officer.

Al Meneses, Norfolk County’s Chief Administrative Officer, said that while there was “substantial interest” in the role, Scharback stood out. “Following her acceptance, Genevieve indicated she was excited and looking forward to meeting and working with the team, Council, and community,” said Meneses. “She will be a tremendous asset to the corporation.”

“On behalf of Council, I am pleased to welcome Genevieve and look forward to working together with her to serve Norfolk County residents,” said Norfolk County Mayor Amy Martin. “She brings extensive knowledge, skills, and experience to an important municipal government role.”

Olsen will stay on in the short term to assist Scharback with the onboarding process. Deputy Clerk Tracey Rodrigues will also be working with the Council Services team to ensure continuity throughout the transition.
