Today, members of Council approved the 2022-2026 Strategic Plan. The plan defines Norfolk County’s priorities that will build on existing strengths and set a solid foundation for this term of Council, and for future generations. Council also approved new mission, vision, and values for the County:

  • Mission – Providing valued public services that are responsive to our community’s needs
  • Vision – A vibrant community growing opportunity for everyone
  • Values – Creativity, collaboration, inclusivity, confidence, integrity and respect

Created with input from local businesses, community agencies, staff, and residents, the Strategic Plan will act as a road map, providing strategic direction to guide the delivery of programs and services. The plan is comprised of the following five priority areas:

  • Empowering Norfolk – Putting the tools and resources in place to ensure our businesses’ and residents’ success.
  • Building Norfolk – Develop the infrastructure and supports needed to ensure complete communities.
  • Connecting Norfolk – Bringing the community together with cultural, physical and technological linkages.
  • Serving Norfolk – Ensuring a fiscally responsible organization with engaged employees who value excellent service.
  • Sustaining Norfolk – Creating a sustainable community and a positive legacy.

Each priority area includes three objectives that further define Council’s strategic direction during this term. Moving forward, new initiatives will align with these priorities, and the new Strategic Plan will be integrated into the budget process, departmental business plans, and staff goals.

“On behalf of Council, we are committed to embracing our mission, vision, and values to ensure we are doing our part to contribute to a high quality of life for our residents,” said Mayor Amy Martin. “Thank you to those who helped in building this plan. Your ongoing commitment to this community makes it a great place to live, work and play.”

“The 2022-2026 Strategic Plan defines how we will move forward with Council-approved initiatives,” said Al Meneses, Chief Administrative Officer. “The plan provides the strategic direction to enable our organization to not only meet but exceed expectations as we deliver programs and services to our residents.”
