Norfolk County staff are moving forward to connect additional Port Dover properties to the County’s municipal drinking water following the capacity increase to the town’s water supply announced in May.

Improvements to Port Dover’s water treatment plant will be done in phases, with the first phase completed in the fall of 2022. Earlier this year, a temporary upgrade at the water treatment plant provided an increase in water capacity that enabled the County to start the process to connect additional properties to the municipal drinking water system. The second phase of improvements planned to be completed by Summer 2024 will add additional water capacity, enabling further growth.

As County staff prepare for this system upgrade and expansion, County staff will continue to investigate any and all properties discovered to have irregular connections to the municipal drinking water system and will be working with residents, builders and developers to ensure the necessary infrastructure is in place and proceed with any corrective actions deemed to be appropriate.

Norfolk County’s drinking water remains safe and is fully compliant with all applicable legislation.

Port Dover’s Wastewater Treatment Plant is also scheduled for upgrades expected to begin later this year. The improvements will increase the plant’s capacity, address aging infrastructure, and align water and wastewater capacity to allow for future growth and development.
