Norfolk County would like to remind residents of changes to programs, facilities to programs, facilities and services throughout the holiday season.
County Administration Buildings
All administration buildings will be closed on Friday, December 22, 2023, at 4:30 p.m. and will reopen on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at 8:30 a.m.
Emergency, Essential, and Critical services
Fire and Paramedic Services will continue to operate as usual.
Health Unit
All offices will be closed on Friday, December 22, 2023, at 4:30 p.m. and will reopen on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at 8:30 a.m.
For public health emergencies or hazards, such as outbreaks, food poisoning, meningitis, or rabies, please call the after-hours emergency phone number at 1-877-298-5888.
Social Services and Housing
All offices will be closed on Friday, December 22, 2023, at 4:30 p.m. and will reopen on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at 8:30 a.m.
For crisis support, such as emergency accommodation, call the Victim Services Support Line at 1-800-264-6671.
Heritage and Culture
All Norfolk County museums and the Norfolk County Archives will be closed on Friday, December 22, 2023, at 4:30 p.m., and will resume regular hours on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
Celebrate the New Year at the Port Dover Harbour Museum’s Captain’s Polar Bear Levee on Monday, January 1. Doors open at 1 p.m., and the levee starts after the Polar Bear Dip. Bring a fiddle or other instrument and join in the fun or sit back and enjoy the tunes and company. Admission by donation.
Norfolk County Public Library
All Norfolk County Public Library branches will be closed on Monday, December 25, Tuesday, December 26, and Monday, January 1. Regular hours will be in effect outside of these days.
Recreation
The Simcoe Recreation Centre, Annaleise Carr Aquatic Centre, and all Norfolk Arenas will close early at 2:30 p.m. on December 24 and December 31. All locations will be closed December 25, December 26 and January 1.
The Simcoe Seniors’ Centre will be closed until January 2, 2024
Special holiday skate and swim schedules are running from December 23 to January 7; these schedules can be found at NorfolkCounty.ca/HolidayRec.
Check out the Recreation programs including the Holiday Day Camp at the Delhi Arena Multipurpose Room (January 2 to 5), and Family New Year’s Eve Party at Talbot Gardens (December 31 from 6 to 8 p.m.) with a public skate from 6 to 7 p.m. Registration is required, please visit NorfolkCounty.ca/ENCORE to sign up.
Ride Norfolk
Ride Norfolk will not be in operation on December 25 and 26, and January 1. Regular service will be available on December 27, 28, and 29.
ServiceNorfolk
ServiceNorfolk will be closed on Friday, December 22, 2023, at 4:30 p.m. and reopen on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at 8:30 a.m.
Residents may email askus@norfolkcounty.ca with non-urgent questions or requests during the closure; staff will reply to emails in a priority sequence when offices reopen.
Residents seeking emergency assistance regarding forestry, parks and facilities, public health, roads, water, sewer, waste, and drainage can call 1-877-298-5888.
Residents seeking By-law Enforcement during the closure may contact the OPP non-emergency line number at 1-888-310-1122.
Transfer Stations
Transfer stations will be closed on December 25 and 26 and on January 1. Both facilities will be open with regular hours from December 27 to 30.
Waste collection
Waste collection will be delayed one day throughout the week of December 25 and January 1, with the exception of Simcoe. Residents are encouraged to use the Recycle Coach app for instant access to their area’s collection schedule, personalized reminders, and more. The app is available on the iTunes Store and the Google Play Store.
