Lowering flags to half-mast

Norfolk County's flags are flown at half-mast as a sign of mourning. Norfolk follows federal protocol in flying the national flag of Canada at half-mast on certain occasions, including as directed by the Department of Canadian Heritage for all federal government buildings.

Norfolk also flies flags at half-mast at the following times:

  • On the death of current and former mayors and members of Council
  • On the death of current County employees
  • At the additional call of the Mayor's Office, according to specific circumstances

Current updates and notices of half-masting and flag raisings will be shared via Norfolk's social media accounts whenever possible.
