Norfolk County continues to face winter storm conditions, with the most affected area being the southwest – Port Rowan, Long Point, Fairground, Walsingham, Langton, and surrounding areas.
Norfolk County staff and contractors have been working hard to clear roadways as the intense winter storm continues. Currently, most roads in the north and east areas of the County, including Simcoe, Waterford, Port Dover, and Delhi, have been cleared.
Most Norfolk County offices will be closed to the public beginning Friday, December 23 at 4:30 p.m. Throughout the holidays, if emergency information and assistance is required, please contact:
Norfolk County has declared a Significant Weather Event, effective Friday, December 23 at 6 pm, as a winter storm continues to move through the area. This notice will be lifted when conditions improve, and staff safety is no longer a concern.
With a major winter storm in the forecast, Norfolk County reminds residents to take precautions to stay safe, such as staying off roads, monitoring the weather conditions, and postponing non-essential travel.
Despite many unique challenges, the various departments – with the support of County Council – were able to celebrate many victories. These accomplishments will mean positive things for the community, such as smoother processing, more events, affordable housing, and increased tourism.
Norfolk County will once again offer Christmas Tree Depots for all residents this holiday season.
December 19, 2022 – Norfolk County is pleased to announce that Heidy VanDyk will become the General Manager, Corporate Services, effective January 2023. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, VanDyk will lead the Accessibility and Special Projects, Corporate Customer Service and Communications, Financial Management and Planning, Information Technology, Purchasing, and Realty Services teams.
Norfolk County is preparing for another winter in southern Ontario. This means that plows will be clearing all municipally maintained roads when a snow event has occurred.
The Norfolk County Fire Department (NCFD) is proud to announce the promotion of volunteer firefighter, Jackie Mussel, to captain. In her new role as captain, Mussel will supervise volunteer firefighters at the station and in emergencies – and provide training and mentorship to staff.
